On the 13th of June 2017, the BladeSave consortium representatives came together in Cambridge, for the official kick-off meeting of the project. The consortium is made up of three British partners – RENEWABLE ADVICE LTD (coordinator), SMART FIBRES LTD and TWI , one Romanian partner – ASSIST Software and one Dutch partner –EMERGYA WIND TECHNOLOGIES BV.
The main objective of this project is to provide a comprehensive solution for wind turbines’ structural health and condition monitoring system. BladeSave system is a fusion between a Fibre Optic Structural Health Monitoring System (Smartscan) providing multi-sensing capability (strains, vibrations, and acoustic emission), and a blade management software (WindManager) linking the data from inspection and maintenance to the SHM data offering a comprehensive solution for wind turbine blades monitoring, repair and management.
The meeting agenda consisted of establishing the project’s management committee and presenting the BladeSave implementation plan. The partners went on to thoroughly analyse the first stage of the project, its implementation plan, work packages, deliverables and dissemination strategy.
The meeting was wrapped up with talks concerning project management, such as communication channels and tasks / work packages monitoring and tracking.
The BladeSave Project is co-funded by the Horizon 2020 program of the European Union and submitted under H2020-FTIPilot-2016 call Innovation Action, on-topic FTIPilot-01-2016 with the project ID 760353.
